INITIATIVES
Ideas are just thoughts, until transitioned into vision, and finally action.

Contribute and Celebrate
Black and African American History is American History
Purposeful and well-coordinated events and exhibits reflect on and amplify achievements, views, social influences, concerns, and aspirations. Below are just a few ways we support the community.
You too are encouraged to participate.

Annual Observances
Highlight African American culture and achievements during other national holidays.
These include Women's History Month, Women's Equality Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Veterans Day, and others.

The Arts and Entertainment
Seek out local artist performances. Include choirs, student performances, jazz ensembles, spoken word, etc.
Ask for community performers. Contact DJs for music genres, authors and crafts persons.

Health and Wellness
Create a Health and Wellness mini expos. Host a panel on maternal and family health.
Seek out health professionals who can speak specifically to the concerns of African American health.

Youth Activities
Involve youth in decision making. Create leadership positions and opportunities.
Develop interactive experiences. Host oratorical panels and competitions, and digital creator challenges.
